I am a freelance writer and self-taught photographer living in Red Deer, Alberta. While I enjoy landscape and portrait photography, I particularly enjoy creating still life images that capture everyday objects and slow our perception.

Most of my images start as photographs taken on walks or in my studio. These are then finished in photoshop where I let the subject matter, textures, and colors dictate how they want to be represented. I may trace outlines and overlay images with a mix of colours and textures. Sometimes I add a slight blur that emulates an oil painting as in "Miss Caitlin," or washes of shades and textures to give an image the soft feel of a water colour as in "Summer Skyline." Or I might layer an image with other images like "Porthole Garden" or with textures that I brush away from the subject to create depth and focus as with "Blue Bee." The resulting images can take on the moods and qualities of Dutch still life, water colours, Japanese wood blocks, pencil sketches, or anything in between.

I hope you enjoy my work! You can see select pieces at Curiosity Art and Framing in Red Deer. And check out my webpage often because I am constantly learning and refining my craft.
